The Story revolves around:
-A boy called Damien who seems to have it all. He's rich, good-looking and athletic. He's also arrogant, obnoxious and a major player. Damien is one of 5 children who seem to not get along, until one day Damien meets Alexis and his life is turned inside out.
-A girl called Alexis who has trust issues due to her parents. Her best friends mean the world to her, and she refuses to date anyone that doesn't fit completely in her 'Perfect Guy' list.
They're thrown together a lot and start to face inner demons they've hidden away for so long.
- Goodreads.com description
Damien Martinez
is this typical bad boy changes girls like girls changes clothes and he never
remembers the name of the girls he dates who also have a broken family. But
when Alexis Carver came into his life, everything changes. Both people have a
history that scarred them. Somehow,
fixed his family back together and managed to change who Damien was to who
Damien is now.
This book has
a LOT of its pros and cons though. There were some things that got me annoyed.
Like, ‘The List’. Honestly. You don’t have to
make a list of what a guy must have to date you. I mean, NO ONE is THAT
perfect. It’s either you like the guy or you don’t. Ditto. Secondly, I mean,
what is it with them and secrets? I mean, I find that they open themselves up
TOO EASILY. No restraint. If I have a secret, only a certain someone would
know. I don’t open up to everybody who asked me what is it that I have an issue
with this or an issue with that.
But Against All Odds was also a very fun and
enjoyable read. The banter and competition between Alexis and Damien was really
fun to read. Although, this book really got cliché to me at one point, there
are some plot twist that got you gasping.
And yes, I did squeal a lot at one point in
this book ;)
