Waiting On Pledged by Gwyneth White

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine to shine a spotlight on upcoming books and I'm eagerly participating!

Pledged
By Gwyneth White
Swallow Press, 503 pages
13th June, 2012

Everyone has a soul mate. But what do you do when your soul mate would rather give his soul to the demons than be with you?

Seventeen-year-old Erin has a problem. Seth has been hers forever, but now an ancient curse is tearing him away. And the demons who invoked it will stop at nothing – even murder – to claim him as their own.

How can she win against a curse so binding that it has damned countless others to this same fate – an eternity alone?

The answer lies in the past. To find it, Erin and Seth must risk all, travelling back in time to a dangerous world where love is forbidden, and life – and death – hang on a pledge.

Follow Erin and Seth as they travel to ancient Shenaya and confront the curse that has plagued their families for millennia. Caught in a war between the Angelic Guardians and the Gefallen, the disembodied dead, they must fight to keep their souls in tact and their love untainted.

I know this is 'technically' cheating 'cause I got this in an ebook format for the blog tour, but I just can't help it! I featured Pledged this week 'cause I want to get the word out about this book! But also, I really really really really really want a physical copy of Pledged. There's just something about the cover that attracts me. I haven't read this but I'm SO looking forward to it :D

So what are you guys anticipating this week? I hope you didn't cheat like I did ;) Link me up!

Florence by Ciye Cho Review

Florence
By Ciye Cho
Self-Published, 203 pages
1st July, 2012
Source: Author *Florence was given in exchange for an honest review*

Seventeen-year-old Florence Waverley is out of her depth. Literally. Kidnapped and taken below the waves to the mer world of Niemela, she is the ultimate gift for merman Prince Kiren: a human familiar tied to his side. But nothing is what it seems amid the beauty and danger of a dark ocean.

Every Niemelan has a role to play, from the mermaids who weave towers out of kelp to the warriors who fight sea monsters. But in trying to survive, Florence will end up in the middle of a war between the mer and the Darkness. A conflict that will push her between two brothers: Kiren, the charmer inexplicably drawn to both her and the monsters; and Rolan, the loner who has been pushing her away since the day they met. But in order to take a stand--and find out where she belongs--Florence will have to risk it all: her life, her heart... and her very soul.

This might be the BEST mermaid book that I have read yet.

Well… It’s not like I’ve read THAT many mermaid books considering this is my second mermaid book after Lies Beneath… but seriously! It was just A-MAZING! I seriously don’t know how to review this without giving out spoilers but I’ll try my best.

Florence(I’m talking about the book, not yet the character) is just so full of life! Colors everywhere! Niemelan’s setting was breathtaking! Ciye’s described Niemelan so precisely! The corals, the buildings, the merpeople, Prince Kiren’s coronation throne. You could see it so perfectly in your mind. The Oceanarium’s REALLY amazing. Niemelan’s so filled with colors.

Florence never really got accepted by people and when she’s in Niemelan, it’s like that too, the first time. But Princess Yolee accepted Florence at first sight before Prince Kiren warmed up to her. She was invisible but in the world of merpeople, she’s very much visible.

The actions in this book were not less awesome. And there’s one every fifty pages. You’d think there’d be too many but the actions were the right amount. There are some twists and turns in this book too. Seriously, if you think you know that person, think AGAIN. Things definitely were not like what it seems.

The ending was so bittersweet! I’m the kind of person who tears up easily(especially when I’m reading) and I can’t help but shed a few tears. But I was also like, ‘OMG! Is there more? Please tell me there’s more. I want more!’ I mean, seriously. I got TONS of questions.

Seriously guys, read this! Florence is definitely addictive! A book I’d definitely recommend to people!
