Waiting On Love and Other Perishable Items by Laura Buzo

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine to shine a spotlight on upcoming books and I'm eagerly participating!

Love and Other Perishable Items
By Laura Buzo
Knopf Books for Young Readers, 256 pages
Expected Publication: 11th December, 2012

Love is awkward, Amelia should know.

From the moment she sets eyes on Chris, she is a goner. Lost. Sunk. Head over heels infatuated with him. It's problematic, since Chris, 21, is a sophisticated university student, while Amelia, 15, is 15.

Amelia isn't stupid. She knows it's not gonna happen. So she plays it cool around Chris—at least, as cool as she can. Working checkout together at the local supermarket, they strike up a friendship: swapping life stories, bantering about everything from classic books to B movies, and cataloging the many injustices of growing up. As time goes on, Amelia's crush doesn't seem so one-sided anymore. But if Chris likes her back, what then? Can two people in such different places in life really be together?

Through a year of befuddling firsts—first love, first job, first party, and first hangover—debut author Laura Buzo shows how the things that break your heart can still crack you up.

- Goodreads.com description

Firstly, I'm a sucker for cute covers. Secondly, I'm a sucker for debut books especially for contemporaries. Thirdly, even though I'm a sucker for YA contemporary books, I don't usually go for the ones that has a huge age difference kind of romance. But I'm looking forward to this. Because of the cute cover ;)

Top Ten Awesome Beach Reads

I’m participating again in Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Basically every Tuesday the peeps over at The Broke and the Bookish post their top ten lists on various topics. They even have a special Top Ten Tuesday page where they have previous topics and upcoming topics discussed as well.

Honestly? I'd never ever ever bring a book to the beach. I mean, with all the water that’s going to surround you that's going to drip all over your book? *shudder* I’d rather swim than read on the beach. I mean, isn’t that the purpose of going to the beach? The purpose of going for a vacation?

Anyway, when I'm at the beach, I’d want something light and fun. This list would only consists of contemporaries as I'm such a contemporary freak. But NEVER read a John Green's book on the beach. You don't want to cry like a maniac on the beach o.O

My list starts in no particular order:

1. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

What better book to read on the beach other than a good road trip book?

2. Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard

Make this another amazing road trip book!

3. One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt

This one is just so FUN I couldn't resist adding this on the list ;)

What better place to swoon over a guy other than the beach?

5. Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway

You know you couldn't resist adding music when you're at the beach. Especially on summer ;)

6. Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig

A light and fun read that you'll definitely enjoy!

7. Shooting Stars by Allison Rushby

Photography will always be a part of my beach read. Make it more awesome with some paparazzi's in it ;)

8. Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty

Sloppy First is just AMAZING! I'd definitely bring this book with me on the beach :D

9. Lola & the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

This book just screamed FUN!

10. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

A book you could definitely swoon over at the beach :D

So that's my list. What book would you read on the beach?
