Completely Contemp Challenge 2012 Sign Up!

I am participating for the Completely Contemp Challenge 2012 hosted by Chick Loves Lit. So the goal here is to complete at least 1 contemporary book published in the year of 2010, 2011 and 2012, so that makes at least three books a year.

So, here's what I thought I read:

2010:

  1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
  2. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn
  3. One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt
2011:
  1. Ten Things We Did by Sarah Mlynowski
  2. The Beginning of After by Jennifer Castle
  3. The Sweetest Thing by Christina Mandelski
2012:
  1. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
  2. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
  3. Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley
Oh, believe me that's not all. My full list with reviews will be in the Challenges page up there under the banner. Haven't sign up? Easy. Go here.

Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig Review

Pretty Crooked
By Elisa Ludwig
Katherine Tegan Books, 358 pages
13th March, 2012
Source: Publisher

Willa’s secret plan seems all too simple: take from the rich kids at Valley Prep and give to the poor ones.

Yet Willa’s turn as Robin Hood at her ultra-exclusive high school is anything but. Bilking her “friends”-known to everyone as the Glitterati-without them suspecting a thing, is far from easy. Learning how to pick pockets and break into lockers is as difficult as she’d thought it’d be. Delivering care packages to the scholarship girls, who are ostracized just for being from the “wrong” side of town, is way more fun than she’d expected.

The complication Willa didn’t expect, though, is Aidan Murphy, Valley Prep’s most notorious (and gorgeous) ace-degenerate. His mere existence is distracting Willa from what matters most to her-evening the social playing field between the have and have-nots. There’s no time for crushes and flirting with boys, especially conceited and obnoxious trust-funders like Aidan.

But when the cops start investigating the string of burglaries at Valley Prep and the Glitterati begin to seek revenge, could he wind up being the person that Willa trusts most?

- Goodreads.com description

I picked this book up in the hope Willa will kick it Robin Hood style. And guess what? She did! And also because I loved Heist Society and that I should check out more books like that :)

You don't really think I will start this review without talking about the guys first? Well, think again.

There was Aidan and there was Tre
But it's Tre who's always been there
Who took Willa under his care

As you can see, I just made a rhyme there
It just popped out of nowhere
And as you can see, I'm on Team Tre

Hah! I just made a rhyme on those two guys =D

But seriously, Aidan's the type of boy who has that swagger and the smile of someone who's totally full of himself, BUT no, he's not a jerk. At least, not in my opinion. Tre on the other hand, is so much more reserved and mysterious. Which somehow pulled me towards him.

Elisa Ludwig captured Willa narrator's voice perfectly. A bit naive, has a big heart and a bit misguided in her motivation on bringing equals among the students in the Valley Prep, you will be sucked into Willa's world immediately. Pretty crooked was really a fun read. I totally recommend this to people who have read Ally Carter's books and loved it.
