The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
By Michelle Hodkin
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 452 pages
27th September, 2011

Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is.She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong.

Here are the words I would describe The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer: creepy, mysterious, weird and awesome.

This one is totally a fresh read for me. It's paranormal but different than the others. Probably the best mystery and thriller books that I've read in my entire life. What Mara is, well... She isn't branded. That's what I like about it. I mean, look at the other bestselling paranormal books. Wicked Lovely and Wings: fairies. The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and Paranormalcy: vampires, werewolves, fairies, warlocks and stuff. Bloodlines, Vampire Academy and Twilight: vampires. Forsaken and Cassie Clare's books: demon hunter. See? Everythings labeled. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer somehow reminded me of Black Swan movie. Creepy, mysterious, tempting.

I bought this book right after I watched The Hunger Games. And you know what? I could NOT put the book down. I literally read it overnight. The writing and story gets better with every page. My eyes literally did not fleet away from the words.

And then there's Noah Shaw. Snarky, hot, sexy, mysterious typical kind of bad boy that I find myself falling for.  I love the chemistry between Noah and Mara. There was no insta-love going on there between Mara and Noah. And I totally loved that.

And the there's the... CLIFFHANGER!!!

Heart broken again over cliffhangers. They suck. But we love them anyway. I hope I'll get an ARC of the 2nd book. There's no way I could wait any longer. Totally an awesome read.

Waiting On Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine to shine a spotlight on upcoming books and I'm eagerly participating!

Second Chance Summer
By Morgan Matson
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 480 pages
Expected publication: 8th May, 2012

Taylor’s family might not be the closest-knit – everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled – but for the most part, they get along fine. Then they get news that changes everything: Her father has pancreatic cancer, and it’s stage four – meaning that there is basically nothing to be done. Her parents decide that the family will spend his last months together at their old summerhouse in the Pocono Mountains.

Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. And Taylor discovers that the people she thought she had left behind haven’t actually gone anywhere. Her former summer best friend is suddenly around, as is her first boyfriend. . . and he’s much cuter at seventeen than he was at twelve.

As the summer progresses, the Edwards become more of a family, and closer than they’ve ever been before. But all of them very aware that they’re battling a ticking clock. Sometimes, though, there is just enough time to get a second chance – with family, with friends, and with love.

I swear if this is as good as Amy & Roger's Epic Detour, I'll just... am so happy! Lol. But seriously. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour just place her at the top of my must-read author list. Though I hope she'll give me more satisfactions in the ending then it did in Amy & Roger's Epic Detour. But this book sounds like the broken girl that'll be fixed by a guy and I want to READ it! Just because I love Morgan Matson's book. And I could also stay away for a while from the cutesy contemporary read :)
