A total meltdown. The whole school watching. Now Poppy’s an ex-straight-A with no Plan B.

When Poppy Johnson throws away a full scholarship to Columbia, she can only blame the jelly beans. The yucky green ones? Midnight cram sessions and Saturday’s spent studying. The delicious red? The family legacy: Columbia, and a future in finance. Except now it’s starting to look like Poppy’s jelly bean theory is wrong. School has been her life until, but maybe it’s time to start living now.

Poppy has thirty days to try a new life. No school, no studying. Just jumping into every possible world. Thirty days to find her passion, her path, and maybe even love. The Jelly Bean Crisis is officially on.

- Goodreads.com description

Poppy just realize that is it really being a banker her whole is what she wants when she won the Denton award. Long story short, she took a gap month to figure things out.

Jolene actually wrote a motivation nonfiction book, when her agent suggests that she do a YA fiction out of it. And I think it was BRILLIANT. The Jelly Bean Theory made sense. You know, you go through all those yucky flavors that you don't like when you finally get to eat the flavors you like. It's like life.

1 month is actually a really short period of time. But Poppy tried lots of things through her snap month. And she learnt lots of things too. Poppy was such an easy character to like! She may be a valedictorian but she have her moments and she's determined, she didn't let anything bring her down. Even though she's uncertain with what she wants to do as a career, she knows exactly what she wants and doesn't(am I making any sense?).

Throw in some public meltdown, worms and chickens, cookies and film and a little bit of a cute boy, you'll get and you'll get Poppy's life! The Jelly Bean Crisis was such a fun and light read! A perfect getaway from the norm books I read.
