Author Interview: Shannon Greenland




You name it. Shannon Greenland's done it. Hiking, rafting, swimming, snorkelling, surfing, mountain biking, spelunking, canoeing, power lifting, running, camping, para sailing ... well, you get the drift. She's traveled the world extensively and is thrilled to be living in northern Virginia, looking for her new adventure. Believe it or not, Shannon dreaded reading and writing when she was a kid. How ironic that she's now an award winning author.


Shannon Greenland, author of The Summer My Life Began [review here], was kind enough to have an interview. Check out the interview below :D

Fara: How long does it takes for you to write a book?

Shannon: Typically a year to plot, rough draft, and final.

Fara: What is your most rewarding experience since being published?

Shannon: Getting fan mail, most definitely!

Fara: What's one advice you'd give to an aspiring author?

Shannon: Write, write, write. And join writing clubs/organizations--it's what I did and really fine turned my craft.

Fara: Who are your favourite authors of all times?

Shannon: Are you kidding me? I can't possibly list them all. I read so many different genres and have so many fav authors--it's crazy!

Fara: What book(s) is currently your obsession?

Shannon: I just downloaded The Hunger Games on my Kindle and am totally absorbed with it.

Fara: Do you ever experience writer's block? What do you do when it happens?

Shannon: Sometimes... I usually go for a walk or a bike ride and noodle things through.

Fara: What do you do when you're not writing? 

Shannon: Tons! Read, hike, swim, bike, run, travel. I'm always busy.

Fara: Is there anything about you that would surprise readers?

Shannon: I

Fara: What are the 3 things you can't leave your house without?

Shannon: Keys, cell phone, chapstick.

Fara: What are the songs behind The Summer My Life Began?

Shannon: Anything by the Beach Boys, of course.
