2011 End of Year Book Survey

2011 End of Year Book Survey is an awesome post hosted by The Perpetual Page Turner

Let's see what books I think is a thumbs up, wow factor or just got flushed down the drain, shall we?

1. Best Book Read in 2011.
You couldn't honestly think I'd be a nice girl and pick just one did you? Well, wrong. Here's my top 10. I don't think it's in any particular order.

1. The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
2. The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
3. Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
4. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
5. Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott
6. Flowers in the Attic by V.C Andrews
7. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
8. The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Young
9. Heist Society series by Ally Carter.
10. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour series by Morgan Matson.

2. Most Disappointing Book/Book You Wish You Loved More Than You Did?

Well, there is this one book I guess. But there's no way I'm gonna mention it here :P

3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2011?

This has to go to The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It's not YA, I know. But this book is just pure awesome! It's totally unpredictable and just that intriguing. I took it down from my Mom's shelf by the way. There's no way on earth I would know about this book if it isn't for my mom.

4.  Book you recommended to people most in 2011?

This definitely goes to Heist Society series by Ally Carter. We're suppose to hate thieves. 'Cause thieves steal things and they're the bad guys. Really? Hold that thought until you read this book. Because this book is just pure awesomeness! The gadgets they have is just so cool. And the Bagshaws brothers are just cute. But the relationship between Kat and Hale is cuter! I mean, what's with the W. W. Hale thingy?

5.  Best series you discovered in 2011?

The Hunger Games!!!! I can't believe I couldn't find the book anywhere here in Malaysia. Thank God for the Kindle :D

6. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2011?

Well... I couldn't stop at one. So I'll give you an extra four.
  1. Stephanie Perkins for her Lola and the Boy Next Door book.
  2. Elizabeth Scott for her Stealing Heaven book.
  3. Tahereh Mafi for her Shatter Me book.
  4. Ally Carter for her Heist Society series.
  5. Cassandra Clare is just a must for her Shadowhunter books which is The Infernal Devices series and The Mortal Instruments series.
7.  Best book that was out of your comfort zone or was a new genre for you?

This is... hmm... I don't know. I've read all genre before I was even 12. But I'll pick one anyway. This probably goes to the Nightshade series. It's not the paranormal stuff that I wasn't uncomfortable with. It's just the werewolf. I've never read werewolves book before and it's kinda... weird. But I'm glad I picked this up. Thank you Eddy, for this book. You changed my perception towards wolves :D

8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2011?

Haha. I will say this with pride and without doubt. The Hunger Games!!! I mean, what is it with you President Snow with throwing people in a battle field to kill each other off? And a female lead with that much strength? Unforgettable.

9. Book you most anticipated in 2011?

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare! Ahh... Swoon over Will :D

10.  Favorite cover of a book you read in 2011?

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour. Cute :D
 11. Most memorable character in 2011?

I'd have to say Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. A female lead with that much strength? Totally unforgettable.

12. Most beautifully written book read in 2011?

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. The complexity of trying not to touch anyone*shiver*. Gorgeous.

13. Book you can't believe you waited UNTIL 2011 to finally read?

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I saw the book on the shelf but I was like, ignoring it. But there's this one bookstore that has no books that capture my attention so I just picked it up and pay for it. Then I got obsessed =D

14. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2011?

This is hard. There's a lot of quotes that I like but I never highlight them or something. I just have to pick randomly.

Adrian: "Alchemists only show up when trouble happens, and you bring trouble wherever you go. Be careful though. They're religious nuts.'
Rose: 'That's kind of extreme.'
Adrian: 'Just don't let them convert you. I like you being the sinner you are.'
-Adrian Ivashkov and Rose Hathaway(Blood Promise by Richelle Mead)

16. Book That You Read In 2011 That Would Be Most Likely To Reread In 2012?

Definitely Heist Society and Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter. Those two books is just so cute! I can't wait for the 3rd one.

 17. Book That Had A Scene In It That Had You Reeling And Dying To Talk To Somebody About It? (a WTF moment, an epic revelation, a steamy kiss, etc. etc.) Be careful of spoilers!

Clockwork Prince! Oh, my. The ending. M*****a reads as slow as a snail and all I want to do is talk about it already*sigh*. Poor, poor Will.

Top 10 Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2012

I'm joining the Top 10 fun! There is a different topic everyday through Friday.
 Today's topic : Top 10 Books I'm Looking forward to in 2012

So, the list begins in no particular order...

Just so you guys forget how I'm waiting like crazy for this book. Click here.

2) Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Divergent is just plain awesome and epic. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this.

3) Bloodrose by Adrea Creamer
The heat in the love triangle between Shay, Ren and Calla is just scorching hot. I can't wait to see who's she going to end up with. Just FYI, I'm team Ren =D

4) The Catastrophe History of You and Me by Jess Rothernberg
This is a book of a broken hearted girl. I have no idea what's it about and just am so curios. Curiosty doesn't kill right?

5) The Selection by Kiera Cass
A chance to impress a Prince? Sounds cool. And just so you forgot how I wanted this book. Click here.

 6) Incarnate by Jodi Meadow
This sounds a little bit like Fallen series by Lauren Kate. And quote from Annareads.com 'And then she meets Sam and he's got 5,000 years of memories from all the lives he's ever lived. AND THEY FALL IN LOVE and it's, like, probably creepy in an Edward/Bella way, but never mind that, because it's SO ROMANTIC I COULD DIE.' I just HAVE to check it out.

7) Getting Over Garrett Delaney by Abby McDonald
Another story of a broken hearted-girl. This has got so many good reviews. And I like a story of someone trying to get over a person that isn't too heavy to read.

8) Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig
This, book is just epic. I want this. I need this. I have to get my hands on this. Sounds like another version of Robin Hood but I only wanted to read this because I think thieves are just cool(as long as they don't steal my stuff) after reading Heist Society and Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter.

9) The Treachery of Beautiful Things by Ruth Frances Long
I, am attracted to its cover. And didn't you know that I got a thing for faeries?

10) Freshman Year & Other Unnatural Disasters by Meredith Zeitlin
The title and cover is just so cute. Hilarious commentaries, disasters and how she straighten things up is just my thing =D
